How to destroy your life:  ship the villain with the heroine.

luffy-is-a-dork-deactivated2014 said: A random thought about Jinbei popped into my head today when I was reading the One Piece wiki today. There was some comments made people I followed that it would be odd to have a new crew member after the time skip since the dramatic events they went through would really bind the present crew members and any new members wouldn't have the same feel. Well, I would consider Jinbei a part of the separation in a way. Especially considering how he helped Luffy and how the crew loves him now. Thoughts?

I’m with you. I’m pretty confident that Jinbe will join the crew in the future. Like 66% 99% sure. (The only thing that could stop him would be his obligations and desire to help protect Fishman Island, which he would do under Luffy’s flag.)

In my opinion Jinbe has a bond with Luffy that’s every bit as strong as the bond with his crew. Luffy’s already directly said that he owes Jinbe (and Law) his life

If we add together the fact that Jinbe was a huge part of helping Luffy escape Impel Down (they never could have escaped the Calm Belt without him), a huge part of helping him get to Ace during Marineford, then saved Luffy’s life from Akainu by blocking magma with his raw hands, and then even helped Luffy get through the anguish, frustration, and despair of losing his brother

I think it’s overwhelming obvious how much Jinbe has done for Luffy. Oh, and then there are the things he did after the time skip, namely breaking the laws of his island to save Luffy’s life by sharing his blood.

I think that the idea that the crew is already complete and no one else can join because they’re all too close is a weak argument. I really don’t think it’s possible to argue that Jinbe shouldn’t join because the crew is too close for anyone else to be able to work their way in and matter to them just as much as the others already do to each other. That idea assumes that people’s hearts only have so much room in them. If Jinbe had only suffered half as much as he has for Luffy’s sake, I’d still think he’s done MORE than enough to warrant joining the crew.

Plus, the simple fact of the matter is that Luffy asked Jinbe to join. Luffy thinks Jinbe should be a part of his crew, and the entire crew wants it too

The entire crew wants Jinbe to join. I don’t care if anyone thinks it’s odd to get new crew members at this point, because the people who actually get to make the decision (which is actually just Luffy, but the rest get to at least voice their opinions) want him, and that’s all that matters.
